Home EV Charger Installation in Omaha

We install Level 2 EV chargers at homes in Omaha and the surrounding towns. Car chargers are one of the three jobs we do most right now.

Every residential EV charger installation includes a new circuit from your panel to where you park, the breaker for that circuit, and the charger or outlet mounted on the wall. Derek does every install himself, from the estimate to the finished job.

What Your EV Charger Electrician Checks First

Before we quote, Derek comes out and looks at your electrical panel, the distance from the panel to your parking spot, and the path the wire will take. Older Omaha homes can take more work, depending on the panel and where it sits.

If your panel doesn't have room for the new circuit, we tell you during the estimate and walk you through your options, including an electrical panel upgrade. You get the official estimate that evening or the next evening.

Hardwired Chargers and 240V Garage Outlets

There are two ways to charge at home. We hardwire the charger to its own circuit, or we install a 240V outlet and you plug the charger in.

Hardwired Level 2 Charger Installation

A hardwired charger connects straight to its circuit with no plug. Most wall-mounted chargers are built to be installed this way. We mount the charger where the cable reaches your car's charge port without stretching.

Install a 240V Outlet in Your Garage

If your charger plugs in, we install a 240V outlet in the garage on its own circuit. This also works for the portable charger that came with many electric cars. We place the outlet where the cord reaches your parking spot.

Tesla, ChargePoint and Ford Charger Installation

We install chargers from the major brands. If you already bought a charger, we install that one.

Tesla Wall Connector Installation

We install the Tesla Wall Connector on its own circuit and set it to match the breaker size. Tesla owners in Omaha, Papillion and La Vista can request an estimate the same way as any other install.

ChargePoint Installation

The ChargePoint Home Flex can be hardwired or plugged into a 240V outlet. We install it whichever way fits your garage and your panel.

Ford Charge Station Pro Installation

The Ford Charge Station Pro is hardwired and needs a large circuit. We check your panel's capacity during the estimate, before any work starts.

EV Charger Installation Questions

Do you install EV chargers at home?

Yes. Residential EV charger installation is one of the three jobs we do most. We install home EV chargers in Omaha, La Vista, Papillion, Ralston, Elkhorn, Gretna, Bennington and Bellevue. Call (402) 490-4016 or send a request to get started.

Do I need an electrician to install a 240V outlet in my garage?

Yes. A 240V outlet for an EV needs its own circuit and breaker from your panel, and that is licensed electrical work. We run the circuit, install the outlet and confirm your panel can carry the load.

Do I need a permit for an EV charger?

Most EV charger installs need an electrical permit because they add a new circuit to your home. We'll tell you during the estimate what your install needs, so there are no surprises before the work starts.

Will my electrical panel handle an EV charger?

It depends on your panel's size and what's already on it. We check during the estimate. If there isn't room for the new circuit, we explain your options, which can include an electrical panel upgrade.

How do I get an EV charger estimate?

Call (402) 490-4016 or send a request. We'll schedule a visit to look at your panel and where you want the charger, then send the official estimate. Once you accept, we schedule the install.

Can I finance an EV charger install?

Yes, through Wisetack. You can check your monthly payment before you apply, there's no hard credit check, and approval takes minutes. Plans include 0% interest for 3 months. Your application goes straight to Wisetack, so we never see your financial information.

Is EV charger installation covered by a warranty?

Yes. Every EV charger install carries a 1-year warranty on labor and on materials we purchase. Proton Electric is licensed (license #54179) and insured, and Derek does every install himself.
